Apply to the Business Administration Bootcamp

Program Dates: February 27 - March 30, 2017
Schedule: Monday-Friday for the first week (10am-4pm); Monday-Wednesday-Thursday for the following weeks (10am-6pm on Mondays and Wednesdays; 10am-4:30pm on Thursdays)

Attend a free Information Session on January 17 or February 7. Each session will be held from 5:00-6:30pm at the San Pablo Economic Development Corporation, 13830 San Pablo Avenue, San Pablo, CA. The session will include an hour-long workshop on "Why You're Awesome: How to Tell Your Story." By the end of the session, you will have a clear idea on how to develop a compelling story that highlights a work-related task that you’re proud of or a situation where you went above and beyond your responsibilities. JVS staff will be onsite to help you start filling out your application for Bootcamp.

Bootcamp gives you what you need to get the job, including:
• A fresh job search and networking strategy
• A powerful personal brand that includes your resume, LinkedIn profile, interview skills, and elevator pitch
• Positive mindset practices to help re-frame your thinking during your job search
• Money management training
• A friendly group of fellow job seekers to share learning, resources and support
• Employer panels, presentations and mock interviews to give you useful information about real jobs
• Ongoing job search support until you are employed
• Access to different skill-building training that can help you advance your career, including sessions on Google Drive, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, and QuickBooks

Application Process:

  1. Begin this application to determine your eligibility.
  2. All eligible applications are personally reviewed.
  3. Qualified applicants will be contacted for an in-person interview in San Pablo.
  4. If you advance after your interview, you will be invited to participate in the quick, in-person, computerized lottery process in San Pablo. This process randomly accepts 50% of applicants and randomly declines 50% of applicants. Your application and interview have no bearing on lottery results. Veterans are exempt from the lottery.   5. Those who are randomly assigned through the lottery will begin the program with orientation on Friday, February 24, 2017.

Job Search Accelerator

Start Date: Ongoing, Monthly
Schedule: Monday – Friday, from 9 am to 4 pm
Location: JVS San Francisco, 225 Bush Street, West Lobby

Is your job search puttering along or moving fast, fueled with positive energy and tried-and-true techniques? Do you have all the technical skills you need to get the job that you want?

JVS’s Job Search Accelerator will set you on a track to find and keep a good paying, living wage job. The 4-6 week free program includes:

  • A foundational week to map your job search action plan, develop your success stories and identify ways to build your technical skills
  • Hands-on workshops in networking, interviewing, resume and cover letter writing, office skills through eLearning coaching and more
  • One-on-one work with experienced JVS staff to refine your job search skill set and connect you to promising job leads
  • Ongoing support for interviews and growing your network

JVS (Jewish Vocational Service) is the Bay Area’s leading non-profit job training agency with a mission to transform lives by helping people build skills and find work – at no cost to the job seeker. JVS will present Job Search Accelerator on an ongoing basis. Each cohort is limited to 20 participants. Apply today to secure your spot and accelerate your job search.

Eligibility

You are eligible for Job Search Accelerator if you are authorized to work full time employment in the U.S., are 18+ years old with High School diploma or GED and if you are any of the following:

  • Long-term unemployed (out of work 6 months or more)
  • Working part-time

Application Process

  • This 10-minute application will determine your eligibility.
  • JVS will review all eligible applications.
  • JVS will invite you to an in-person assessment interview in San Francisco to determine your eligibility.
  • You may be invited to participate in a brief, in-person, computerized lottery process in San Francisco depending on eligibility. This process randomly accepts 50% of applicants to the program group and randomly assigns 50% of applicants to the control group. A JVS representative will reach out to you with the email or phone number you provided to answer any additional questions you may have regarding the lottery process.

JVS was awarded $6.4 million over four years from the Department of Labor to create a new and innovative program to help long-term unemployed individuals build in-demand skills and find work with great Bay Area businesses.

This free program is funded by the federal government. The primary goal is to help people improve their skills, and find and keep jobs. In order to learn what works, the federal government is conducting a study requiring every eligible person to be selected through a lottery system. Those not selected through the lottery will not be able to participate in this program, but will be able to enroll in any other JVS services or programs for which they are eligibleClick here to read Frequently Asked Questions about the lottery.

Your application and interview have no bearing on the lottery results. Veterans are exempt from the lottery.
