2021 ACS Student Leadership Award Application

Gain leadership skills and network with other ACS leaders at the
2021 ACS Leadership Institute!
Given continuing attention to safety associated with COVID-19 pandemic, The Leadership Institute for 2021 will be transformed into a 9-month engagement that promotes ongoing learning, development, and training for ACS volunteer leaders. The kick-off weekend will be held virtually January 9 – 10, 2021.
The ACS Student Leadership Award will cover registration expenses for the 2021 ACS Virtual Leadership Institute 
Eligibility requirements:
  • Completed >1 year towards an undergraduate degree in the chemical sciences
  • Graduating in 2022 or later
  • Current ACS student member
  • Current or past office in an active ACS student chapter
You will need to provide your contact information, chapter information, a cover letter, resume, and letter of recommendation. See below for additional criteria.

Cover Letter, Resume, and Recommendation

Cover letter
Your cover letter should be no more than two pages and describe the following:
  • your past and present leadership roles
  • skills you have obtained in those roles
  • leadership skills you would like to develop
  • your chapter
    • identify the challenges in your chapter
    • solutions you have to these challenges
    • how the ACS Leadership Institute could help address your chapter's challenges

Provide a resume that highlights your leadership experiences

Letter of Recommendation
Provide a letter of recommendation from a faculty advisor who can speak to your plans to strengthen your ACS student chapter. Letter can be uploaded below or emailed to undergrad@acs.org. Please use the subject line, "ACS Student Leadership Award - Student Name - Institution Name"
