The United Ways of Iowa staff lead and facilitate the interview and selection process for AmeriCorps members. Partner organizations play an essential and active role in member recruitment by collaborating with Ampact staff to provide referrals and recruit prospective AmeriCorps members from their community and networks.

Indicate the commitment levels of Reading Tutors requested by your school based on student needs and scheduling/availability for tutoring. Full-time (1200 hours) - 35 hours/week - 5 days per week, 7 hours per day). The school schedule must allow for a minimum of 15 twenty-minute tutoring sessions per day.

Part-time (900 hours) - 25-28 hours/week - 5 days per week, 5 hours per day). The school schedule must allow for a minimum of 10 twenty-minute tutoring sessions per day.

Reduced part-time (675 hours) - 18-20 hours/week - consistent schedule of 3-5 days per week, 3.5-6 hours per day). The school schedule must allow for a minimum of 10 or 15 twenty-minute tutoring sessions per day based on the number of hours per day the tutor is on-site.

All United Ways of Iowa site partners must sign a host site agreement outlining the partnership between the site and the program. Host Site Fee Information

There is a host site fee per member for Reading Corps. While federal AmeriCorps funding covers majority of the costs associated with each member, a host site fee is necessary to cover the remaining costs.
