PALS Spring Chesstravaganza!

* Open to all students grades K-8. Three Sections: K-2, 3-5, and 6-8
 
* Great prizes including trophies and medals for ALL participants
 
* Chess and life lessons between rounds:  growing from mistakes,
   learning from losses, and setting and achieving long-term goals
 
* Optional special event after the main tournament: Hand and Brain
   (team chess) Championship with additional prizes!  Parents and
   children are welcome to team up!
 
* Outdoor fun between games: basketball, soccer, and a playground

Date: Saturday, March 18th, 2023

Location:  Aspen Academy (5859 S University Blvd, Greenwood Village, CO 80121)

Sections:  K-2, K-5, and K-8

Please note that the K-8 section will be open to all participants and rated by the US Chess Federation.

Schedule:  9:15 a.m. - 1:45 p.m.  Parents and kids should check-in between 8:15 - 8:45 a.m.  Round times:  9:15, 10:05, 10:55, and 12:30 (after the lunch break).  Awards ceremony at 1:45 p.m.

Lunch:  There will be a lunch break after round 3 from 11:30 a.m. - 12:15 p.m.  You may go somewhere else for lunch with your child, and bring them back by 12:25, or your child may bring a packed lunch to the school and stay in the gym during the lunch break.

Entry Fee:  $25 for the unrated sections (K-2 and K-5), $30 for the rated section (K-8)

Prizes:  Trophies, and medals for all participants in all sections.  Unique prizes such as the Chess Queen Trophy awarded to the girl who scores the most points, the David vs Goliath trophy to the Kindergartener who scores the most points, medals for outstanding sportsmanship and outstanding games, and more!

This tournament will likely sell out, so please register early to secure your child's spot!
