Award Categories: There are five award categories of recognition accepting nominations:
“Non Healthcare Employer Campaign” recognizes an employer that has implemented a successful and sustainable onsite employee immunization program to improve the health of their employees. Nominations must provide specific examples of the employer’s commitment to increasing awareness of adult VPDs for all onsite employees and improving immunization rates for all employees. Examples may include: increase in onsite influenza immunization rates for all employees, implementation of programs to increase onsite employee immunization rates for other vaccines (e.g. pneumococcal vaccine, shingles vaccine, Td/Tdap, Travel vaccines, etc.).
Laura Scott NAIIS Immunization Excellence Award for Outstanding Influenza Season Activities Campaign innovative activities related to seasonal influenza vaccination across the lifespan (pediatric, adolescent and/or adult activities) and/or among healthcare workers related to improving influenza vaccination.
"Immunization Neighborhood" Adult Immunization Champion recognizes individuals and organizations focused on improving adult immunization rates through the engagement of the immunization neighborhood (collaboration, coordination, and communication (the 3 C’s) among immunization stakeholders dedicated to meeting the immunization needs of the patient and protecting the community from vaccine-preventable diseases) - programs conducted within states and communities that demonstrate strong public and/or private collaboration around the 3 C’s and have a positive impact on addressing disparities and access to care for the adult population. For 2018 submissions, awards will be presented to individuals AND organizations that have embraced and implemented a set of activities that embody the NVAC Standards of Adult Immunization Practice and are role models for other adult immunization stakeholders (activities must go beyond influenza vaccination to include other adult vaccinations and encompass the key components of the immunization neighborhood). Applicants are also encouraged to demonstrate new approaches for sharing immunization administration information (via communications, IIS, EHR, etc) among multiple categories of providers and/or serving underserved populations.
Corporate Campaign (national activities developed by communication / public relations organizations and/or supported by manufacturers, distributors or other for-profit entities (like multi-practice site companies)) - activities could be in any of the above awards areas- these entities should only apply in this category.
Adult Immunization Publication Award: articles published, or currently under official review for publication in a peer-reviewed journal from January 1, 2017 to present that address increasing adult immunization rates and/or implementation of the components contained within the NVAC Standards of Adult Immunization Practice.
Note: the awards selection committee reserves the right to create additional categories or to not award any winners in a particular category.
