Schedule: Monday-Friday for the first week (10am-4pm); Monday-Wednesday-Thursday for the following weeks (10am-6pm on Mondays and Wednesdays; 10am-4:30pm on Thursdays)

Each session will be held from 5:00-6:30pm at the San Pablo Economic Development Corporation, 13830 San Pablo Avenue, San Pablo, CA. The session will include an hour-long workshop on "Why You're Awesome: How to Tell Your Story." By the end of the session, you will have a clear idea on how to develop a compelling story that highlights a work-related task that you’re proud of or a situation where you went above and beyond your responsibilities. JVS staff will be onsite to help you start filling out your application for Bootcamp.

Bootcamp gives you what you need to get the job, including:
• A fresh job search and networking strategy
• A powerful personal brand that includes your resume, LinkedIn profile, interview skills, and elevator pitch
• Positive mindset practices to help re-frame your thinking during your job search
• Money management training
• A friendly group of fellow job seekers to share learning, resources and support
• Employer panels, presentations and mock interviews to give you useful information about real jobs
• Ongoing job search support until you are employed
• Access to different skill-building training that can help you advance your career, including sessions on Google Drive, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, and QuickBooks

Application Process:

  1. Begin this application to determine your eligibility.
  2. All eligible applications are personally reviewed.
  3. Qualified applicants will be contacted for an in-person interview in San Pablo.
  4. If you advance after your interview, you will be invited to participate in the quick, in-person, computerized lottery process in San Pablo. This process randomly accepts 50% of applicants and randomly declines 50% of applicants. Your application and interview have no bearing on lottery results. Veterans are exempt from the lottery.   5. Those who are randomly assigned through the lottery will begin the program with orientation on Friday, April 21, 2017.

Revitalize your technology skill set and translate your professional experience for today’s market. JVS is teaming up with Salesforce to give you everything you need to pass the globally recognized Salesforce Administrator Certification Exam and secure one of the most in-demand positions in tech. We’re looking for job seekers with backgrounds in IT, sales, or other complementary fields. Competitive applicants will have specialized industry knowledge and an understanding of business processes or project management.

Digital Marketing Training

Are you a self-starter who is looking for a career in digital marketing? We teamed up with General Assembly, a leading and well-respected tech trainer, to offer a free 12-week course.

You’ll gain the skills you need to create brand and marketing strategy, engage with customers online and measure results through in-class learning, independent study and hands-on work creating a digital marketing campaign for a real business or nonprofit.

The course covers everything from social media and SEO to creating brand content and analyzing audience data, as well as the job search skills needed to jumpstart a career in this growing industry.

You’ll Learn:

  • the current digital landscape, including tools, vocabulary and best practices from instructors who are established marketing professionals
  • how to develop and launch an effective digital marketing campaign based on business goals and brand voice and that’s driven by data and measured by key performance indicators
  • skills you need to build an audience and brand loyalty with social media, SEO, user-generated content and more
  • how to create, target, launch and track social media campaigns using Facebook, Google AdWords and Google Analytics

In this course, you will also gain:

  • a new job search and networking strategy
  • a powerful personal brand, including your resume, LinkedIn profile, pitch and online presence
  • a friendly and supportive group of fellow job seekers to share resources and learning techniques
  • access to employer panels, presentations, resume reviews and mock interviews
  • ongoing job search support until you’re employed

We’re looking for participants who:

  • have been unemployed for 6 months or more or are underemployed (if you lost your job during or since the recession, and have not yet reconnected with a job commensurate with your experience) – we encourage all job seekers to apply, and we’ll be in touch if you’re a good fit
  • are eligible to work in the United States
  • have a professional background in marketing, analytics, content marketing, graphic design, branding, social media and/or other complementary fields
  • are self-directed learners who thrive in diverse learning environments, including fast-paced classroom instruction, project-based learning and online training platforms
  • have the motivation and ability to take charge of their own education
  • can commit to classes at General Assembly, job search workshops at JVS and roughly 15-30 hours of independent study per week

Job Search Accelerator

Start Date: Ongoing, new cohort starts monthly

Is it time to give your job search a boost?

Kick off or relaunch your job search in JVS’s Job Search Accelerator.  This program starts with 36 hours of in-person job search essentials training, followed by weekly group meetings, and opportunities to meet one-on-one with a job search specialist.

In this program, you will:  

  • develop a job search action plan
  • build a strong career portfolio and refresh your resume with support and feedback
  • practice for interviews
  • receive interview and networking coaching
  • access online learning to advance soft and technical skills
  • connect to job leads
  • engage with a supportive cohort of peer job seekers

Are you eligible?

You are eligible for Job Search Accelerator if you are authorized to work in the U.S., are 18+ years old with High School diploma or GED and if you are any of the following:

  • Unemployed for 6 months or more
  • Underemployed (if you lost your job during or since the recession, and have not yet reconnected with a job commensurate with your experience)

JVS was awarded $6.4 million over four years from the Department of Labor to create a new and innovative program to help long-term unemployed individuals build in-demand skills and find work with great Bay Area businesses.

This free program is funded by the federal government. The primary goal is to help people improve their skills, and find and keep jobs. In order to learn what works, the federal government is conducting a study requiring every eligible person to be selected through a lottery system.
