Western Undergraduate Exchange (WUE) Application Form

Students approved for the Western Undergraduate Exchange (WUE) are exempt from non-resident tuition and instead pay a reduced rate of $69.00/unit. Applications are reviewed on a first-come, first-served basis.

Western Undergraduate Exchange (WUE)
WUE is a program coordinated by the Western Interstate Commission for Higher Education (WICHE). To qualify for WUE at LCC, students must meet all the following requirements:
1) Maintain a legal resident status in an approved WUE state or territory for at least 12 months prior to the first day of the quarter for which the student is applying. Approved WUE states are Alaska, American Samoa, Arizona, California, Colorado, Commonwealth of the Marianas Islands, Guam, Hawaii, Idaho, Republic of the Marshall Islands, Federated States of Micronesia, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oregon, Republic of Palau, South Dakota, Utah, Washington, or Wyoming.
2) Enroll in an LCC Certificate or Degree Program.
3) Enroll in a minimum of 6 units per semester.
4) Maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress. (ie maintain 2.0 GPA)
5) A student is eligible to participate in WUE for a maximum of 3 academic years.
Students that are declined for the WUE are welcome to attend LCC but must pay non-resident tuition. Students may reapply the following semester if their application was denied.

All documents used to establish WUE eligibilty must include:

Please submit at least two documents. One document must be a valid State or Goverment issued ID. Some documents that may work are:
➢ Tax forms from the previous year
➢ Mortgage, title, or rental agreements showing the physical address where the student lives
➢ Utility or other bills showing a physical address
➢ Voter registration
➢ Driver’s license or State ID
➢ Automobile or other insurance showing a physical address
➢ Documentation of having received state services such as unemployment, rehabilitation, welfare, etc.
➢ Moving bills showing a destination of an authorized physical address
➢ Checking or savings accounts held at a bank or credit union
➢ License from an authorized professional practice
➢ Jury duty summons for court
➢ Selective Service registration with a permanent address
➢ State listed as the home of record on a military Leave and Earning Statement (LES)
➢ Petition for divorce as a resident
➢ Federal tax forms listing a physical address
➢ Employment contracts with a business
➢ Records of attendance at a college or university as a resident of that state (payment of resident fees)
➢ You may have other documentation that meets the necessary criteria
➢ If you moved to an authorized state directly from California during the past year, you may also want to provide documentation showing that you were previously a California Resident *
