Students approved for the Western Undergraduate Exchange (WUE) are exempt from non-resident tuition and instead pay a reduced rate of $69.00/unit. Applications are reviewed on a first-come, first-served basis.
Western Undergraduate Exchange (WUE)
WUE is a program coordinated by the Western Interstate Commission for Higher Education (WICHE). To qualify for WUE at LCC, students must meet all the following requirements:
1) Maintain a legal resident status in an approved WUE state or territory for at least 12 months prior to the first day of the quarter for which the student is applying. Approved WUE states are Alaska, American Samoa, Arizona, California, Colorado, Commonwealth of the Marianas Islands, Guam, Hawaii, Idaho, Republic of the Marshall Islands, Federated States of Micronesia, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oregon, Republic of Palau, South Dakota, Utah, Washington, or Wyoming.
2) Enroll in an LCC Certificate or Degree Program.
3) Enroll in a minimum of 12 units per semester, excluding summer.
4) Maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress. (Earn a 2.0 GPA and pass a minimum of 67% of total units attempted each semester.)
5) A student is eligible to participate in WUE for a maximum of 2 academic years.
Students that are declined for the WUE are welcome to attend LCC but must pay non-resident tuition. Students may reapply the following semester if their application was denied.
