Carroll County Voter Registration Office Election Official Application
QUALIFICATIONS
You
must
be a registered voter in
the Commonwealth of Virginia.
You
cannot
hold elected office or
be the deputy or employee of an elected
official.
TRAINING
A training session is held the latter
part of October at Carroll County High School.
APPOINTMENT
Election Officers are appointed
each February for a one year term.
DUTIES
Precinct Officers:
Prepare polling place
Check voters’ names on registered
voters list.
Operate voting machines.
Tally results and secure machines.
ELECTION DAYS
General: First Tuesday after first Monday
in November
Primaries: Second Tuesday in June
Special: As Required
Towns: First Tuesday in May

HOURS OF SERVICE
Polls are open from 6:00 AM to 7:00 PM
Election Officers are required to arrive at
5:00 AM and remain until all votes are
tabulated and work is complete.
PAY SCALE
Election Officers - $140.00 for Election Day and attending training session.
