About the Nomination
Each award is granted annually to an organization that supports the arts and/or the Bowling Green community and agrees to publicly display the artwork for a minimum of five years. The selected organization must agree to display the artwork in a public space, and to recognize the Black Swamp Arts Festival on a plaque, wall label, or other notation in conjunction with the artwork. Nominations are welcomed and encouraged from anyone in the community.
Nominations should be submitted to the Festival Chair by 5 PM on August 31, 2011 in one of the following ways:
· Complete an online form at www.blackswamparts.org
· Send email to info@blackswamparts.org, subject "Award Nomination" and include the information below in the body of the message.
· Pick up a nomination form at participating downtown Bowling Green businesses and mail to Black Swamp Arts Festival, attn. "Award Nomination," PO Box 532, Bowling Green, OH 43402. Forms will be available at Grounds for Thought, Ben Franklin, For Keeps, Downtown Bowling Green, Bowling Green Chamber of Commerce, and Art-a-Site.
The Festival Chair will present the nominations at a regular Festival meeting and the recipients shall be selected by a majority vote of the membership in attendance at the meeting.
About the Awards
The Dorothy Uber Bryan Painting Award will honor up to $1,000 value in cash and artwork purchase to a painter or other 2-D visual artist selected by the jurors during the Festival. The artwork, selected by the recipient organization, will then be displayed in a public space, for a minimum of five years, with recognition to the Black Swamp Arts Festival on a plaque, wall label, or other notation in conjunction with the artwork.
The recipient organization will be determined by the voting members of the Black Swamp Arts Festival based on nominations from the committee as well as the community at-large. Artwork is generally not given to an organization more than once.
The Community Art Award will honor up to $500 to a selected community organization or business that supports the arts and/or the Bowling Green community for purchase of artwork at the Festival. The recipient organization will be determined by the voting members of the Black Swamp Arts Festival based on nominations from the committee as well as the community at-large. Artwork is generally not given to an organization more than once. The recipient organization is expected to participate in the selection of artwork on the Saturday of the Festival. The selected artwork will then be displayed in a public space, for a minimum of five years, with recognition to the Black Swamp Arts Festival on a plaque, wall label, or other notation in conjunction with the artwork.
